Easy to navigate when inside. Parking however is terrible and taking shuttles are not my thing. I Uber coming and going from the airport. Seats didn't have the charger ports, some wall posts and high tables to charge your devices may be available but always packed. Going through the inspection lines are long but efficient. ID checks are quick.
Easy to navigate inside the airport. Food options are limited. Not too many shops either however, there is a lot of space to relax, work and wait for the flight. Nice and clean restrooms. I took a flight a few days before Halloween and one of the gates was decorated so well for Halloween that it became the highlight for people to stop and click pictures. I did the same…
Had a 2 hour layover in AUS. Great airport to have a layover. Plenty of places to rest, to do some work and eat, drink and shop. We ate at an indoor Taco Truck. Very good. Lots of choices to eat and I don't remember seeing one McDonald's or other such place which is a good thing. The only knock is that the walk ways are not super wide and felt much busier than it probably was. Not a huge airport but big enough.
Welcome to CHAOS. I have been traveling in and out of this airport for 10 years and it is still a complete chaotic wreck. There are always makeshift walkways, made up processes to control people, closed off areas, close quarters, full restrooms. There is no order. Airport employees have to yell at large crowds of people to tell us where to go. The airport staff are standing in random places yelling at us as they put us into a snake line of thousands of people to get ready to go into security. Meanwhile I don't see one security person just airport personnel. As we get closer to the security area my anxiety is going higher as I see these makeshift plexiglass walls and they will try and stuff us in. The airport personnel are stressed out. One employee is heckling us by yelling "you gotta stay in line so you don't miss your flight!" It looks like nobody's in charge here, but the airport staff all seem to be doing the same thing. Standing around stopping and starting lines of people. It's as if there is no planner here. It seems Texas has applied a ranching technique called herding cattle to this process of airport security. As I walk 500 ft away from where I'm trying to go and then wind around four more times having walked a thousand feet I'm still not there. There's construction everywhere and still nothing gets completed. This thing has been under construction for more than 10 years and it never ever gets finished. If it's your first time in the United States please accept my apology for this pathetic airport. I am not from here so I am not responsible for this airport being 40 years behind the times. It's capacity is about 1/10 of its actual number of people traveling through. It is uncomfortable it is rushed it is disorganized and it is nerve-wracking to be here. I am a visitor to Austin Texas and I do not want to live here because this airport represents the way that people are treated All over Texas like cattle with wallets. No wonder people drink too much alcohol here.
We’re here today… early at 6:30 AM. We breezed through inspection very quickly. Gone are the days when inspector checks your ID. There’s a machine now that checks it. You insert ID on the slot and once check is done, it comes out. Photo is then taken. In you go. Same routine after that. Lighting in the inspection is a bit dim though. Probably they’re conserving energy. It does not bother me; it’s just an observation. Temperature inside the airport is “freezing” for me. So make sure to have a jacket handy especially if you’re cold-intolerant like me.
